Specifies how the Linocut effect orients the train of carved lines that carries the tone.

Fields

Parallel = 0

One train of straight lines, all at the same fixed angle. The plainest engraving, and the only mode whose lattice is exactly periodic across the whole image.

Contour = 1

One train whose direction follows the image's own structure: the lines run perpendicular to the luma gradient, so they wrap around forms rather than cutting across them. Where the image is flat the gradient direction means nothing, so the direction is blended back toward the fixed angle as the gradient magnitude falls away.

CrossHatch = 2

Two trains at right angles to each other, the second engaging only in the darker half of the tonal range - the way an engraver lays a cross in only once a single set of lines can no longer carry the shadow.
